Ghana Scout Association Swears in New Leadership to Drive Growth
The Ghana Scout Association has sworn in a new National Leadership to steer the affairs of the organisation and strengthen its youth development programmes across the country.
The induction followed a two-day orientation programme held at the Girl Guides National Training Centre in Achimota, under the theme “Stewardship for Growth: Strengthening Leadership for the Future.”
The programme aimed to equip newly appointed leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage the affairs of the Association and advance its strategic goals.
During the orientation sessions, participants engaged in discussions on governance structures, leadership responsibilities, accountability mechanisms, and safeguarding measures for young people in scouting activities.
The training was facilitated by international experts Jonathan Jacala Omondi of the Africa Support Centre, Nairobi, a consultant with the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and Rachid Mchatta, also a consultant with the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
Speaking at the opening session, the Chief Commissioner, Mr. Hilary Awusie Yaw, urged leaders to demonstrate commitment, integrity, and collaboration in their service to the Association.
“This leadership must work together with a strong sense of responsibility and stewardship to ensure the continued growth and relevance of scouting in Ghana,” he said.
The programme concluded with a formal induction ceremony during which members of the National Board and National Executive Committee were officially installed into office.
The event also featured cultural performances and poetry recitals by scouts, adding colour and excitement to the occasion. The special Guest for the event was the former Vice Chair of the World Scout Committee, Madam Jemima Nartey. Stakeholders present at the ceremony commended the Ghana Scout Association for its continued role in promoting leadership, discipline, and community service among young people.
