Consultative Breakfast Meeting on Harmonising Policies and Programmes on Youth Development organized by National Youth Authority (NYA).

 

The Ghana Scout Association, GSA, on Friday 8th April, 2022, participated in a Consultative Breakfast Meeting on Harmonising Policies and Programmes on Youth Development in Ghana at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, organized by the National Youth Authority.

The National Youth Authority created the platform for all the youth focused institutions to engage, build synergies and develop a common pathway for youth development. Addressing the participants, the Chief Executive of National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide, said “The authority is resolute in its belief that the needs of 11, 782, 614 million young Ghanaians will be best served if our various agencies build strong synergies amongst ourselves, harmonise our policies and programmes and pool resources together to ensure that they can be used to optimize outcomes”.  These state agencies participated in the meeting-National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, (NEIP), National Youth Authority (NYA) Youth Employment Agency (YEA), National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP) Scholarship Secretariat, Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Co-ordinator. The UN Systems and other youth-oriented bodies also attended the programme.

It was chaired by the Director-General of National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr. Kojo Mensah Abrampah. The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of Public Enterprises stressed the need for the youth to be provided with entrepreneurial skills and financial support. This according to them is the only way to create employment. The GSA was represented by Mr. Seth Kojo Eyiah, International Commissioner.
