The Ghana Scout Association, over the weekend from the 30TH March to 1ST April 2012 held a Basic Training Course for her leaders at the National Scout Training Center.
The training course was attended by 54 Adult leaders from across the regions of the country, 11
National Headquarters Commissioners. Importantly was the presence of about 12 female Adult leaders
who actively participated in the training course.
The objectives were to;
1. Conduct Basic Training Course for New Adult leaders
2. Refreshment Courses to old Adult leaders
3. Investiture Ceremony to Adult leaders
The training course which started on Friday until the Sunday discussed course like:
1. FUNDERMENTAL PRINCILPES OF SCOUTING
2. HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SCOUTING
3. WORLD SCOUTING STRUCTURE
4. PROGRESSIVE AND PROFICIENCY SCHEME
5. LEADERS TRAINING SHEME
6. SCOUTS IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
The awards and investiture ceremony was attended and conducted by the Deputy Chief Scout , JERRY AIKINS, the Chief Commissioner, GREGORY MANFUL, the Africa Scout Committee Chairperson, JEMIMA NARTEY and the Former Chief Commissioner, ISAAC NEWTON ADDY.
Participants were later presented with Certificates, training modules and the Youth Programme of the Ghana Scout Association. Special awards were also presented to some participants to motivate and encourage healthy competition among adult leaders.
It was remarkable to have the audience of these leaders who each took turns to congratulate and encourage the Adult leaders of the purpose of Scouting.
